Lung cancer is a major public health concern, and Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a crucial role in promoting lung health, preventing disease, and connecting individuals to essential care resources. This specialized curriculum is designed to equip CHWs with the knowledge and skills necessary to educate communities about lung cancer risk factors, prevention strategies, early detection, and available support systems.
To ensure equity in access to care, we will be prioritizing cancer catchment areas, focusing on communities that experience the highest burden of lung cancer. The program emphasizes cultural relevance and accessibility by providing materials in both English and Spanish, using clear, lay-friendly language. Through interactive activities, role-playing exercises, and group discussions, participants will strengthen their ability to deliver effective lung health education tailored to diverse populations.
Upon completing this training, you will serve as a CHW Lung Health Ambassador, playing a pivotal role in raising awareness, promoting prevention, and guiding individuals toward life-saving resources. Your impact at the community level will help bridge gaps in healthcare access, ensuring that those most at risk receive the education and support they need. Additionally, you will be compensated for your contributions, recognizing the essential role you play in improving community lung health.
